Doug Case earns National Men’s Coach of the Year accolade

FAYETTEVILLE – Completing a season sweep of conference and national team titles with an elusive NCAA Outdoor National Championship in his first season as the Razorbacks men’s head coach earned Doug Case the USTFCCCA National Men’s Coach of the Year.

In claiming Arkansas’ first NCAA Outdoor title since 2003, Case delivered the 11th NCAA Outdoor Championship and 44th overall national championship in the Razorback men’s program history.

This marks the 10th time the Razorback men have completed a track and field sweep of conference and national titles in the same season. John McDonnell achieved the feat nine times, the last occurring in 2003.

Case also became the first initial-year head coach to complete the men’s sweep of conference and national titles since John Wedel of UTEP in 1982.

In winning the SEC Outdoor championship, it marked the 25th title for the Arkansas men, tying Tennessee for the conference lead in outdoor SEC titles. The Razorbacks totaled 11 medalists with six gold, two silver, and three bronze medals.

Arkansas totaled seven medalists in winning the NCAA Outdoor title which included three silver and four bronze medals along with 12 first-team All-America honors.

A season with four team titles included an array of stellar marks that accounted for 10 Arkansas school records, six outdoor and four indoor.
