Eli Seavy 20th in Chile Pepper 8k
FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas only had a pair of runners competing in the 39th Chile Pepper Festival as Eli Seavey led the duo in placing 20th over the 8,000m course at Agri Park.
Seavey covered the distance in 24:43.2 among a field of 267 finishers. Teammate Dawson Welch placed 88th in 26:05.5.
The rest of the Razorback squad trained through this week in preparation for Nuttycombe Invitational hosted by Wisconsin next Friday, Oct. 9.
Texas claimed the team title with 64 points to finish ahead of North Texas (103), UTEP (137), Oklahoma Baptist (172), and East Central of Oklahoma (191).
The individual winner was Pau Valderrama of Missouri Western, who produced a time of 24:02.8 and won by a tenth of a second over UTEP’s Nathan Kapel (24:02.9). Hudson Bennett led Texas in finishing third (24:09.8) as three Longhorns placed among the top seven.
