Ellis, Leinstock land on Softball America Top 100 players list
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Following their first season as Razorbacks Bri Ellis and Morgan Leinstock have been recognized as Top 100 players in the nation according to Softball America.
Ellis checks in at No. 88 on the list as the No. 6 first baseman in the nation after hitting.322 and leading the team with 14 home runs, 36 runs scored and 47 RBI. She also paced the squad with a .651 slugging percentage and .444 on-base percentage. The Houston, Texas native was a Second-Team All-America selection by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association last month adding to her First-Team All-SEC and All-SEC Defensive team honors. She became the first Hog in program history to capture SEC Player of the Week in consecutive weeks (March 12 and March 19) during the season. Her defense was also unmatched at first base with a .989 fielding percentage on 359 total chances and 21 double plays turned.
Leinstock’s name appears at No. 94 on the list. The Arizona native went 13-6 with a 2.14 ERA. She punched out 137 over 140.2 innings while limiting hitters to just a .220 average. She saved her best for SEC play where she won eight games to along with a pair of saves to rank inside the league’s Top 10. Her 2.00 ERA was eighth-best and her 80.1 innings were the ninth-most in the conference. She was named a Third-Team All-American by NFCA last month alongside Ellis to give Head Coach Courtney Deifel her third season (2021, 2022) with multiple NFCA All-Americans.
