Ellis Named SEC Player of the Year as Four Hogs Garner All-SEC Honors

ATHENS, Ga. – Arkansas senior first baseman Bri Ellis was named the 2025 SEC Player of the Year as four Razorbacks collected All-SEC honors, the league announced Friday morning.

Ellis became just the second Arkansas player to earn SEC Player of the Year honors, joining KB Sides, who accomplished the feat in 2022.

In addition to being named the league’s player of the Year, Ellis earned first-team and all-defensive team honors. Pitcher Robyn Herron, outfielder Reagan Johnson, and infielder Ella McDowell all earned second-team All-SEC accolades.

Ellis is putting together one of the greatest individual seasons in NCAA history. In conference play, the Houston, Texas, product batted .397 with a league-leading 11 home runs and 29 RBI while drawing 27 walks and posting a .983 slugging percentage, .606 on-base percentage, and 1.589 OPS. Ellis reached base in 22 of the Hogs’ 24 SEC games while registering nine multi-RBI games and seven multi-hit games. She finished league play on a 20-game reached base streak. Defensively, the first baseman posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 124 putouts and seven assists. Ellis did not commit a single error in 307 chances during SEC play in her two seasons at Arkansas. Her selections marked the second consecutive year that Ellis earned first-team and all-defensive honors.

Herron earned all-league recognition for the first time in her career. The left-handed junior posted a 7-5 record with a 3.41 ERA in 76 innings of work while striking out 78 batters and limiting opposing hitters to a .223 batting average. Her .223 batting average against was the fourth-best mark in the league among pitchers with 75+ innings.

Johnson garnered All-SEC honors for the third time in as many years. The junior earned second-team honors in 2023 and first-team honors in 2024. Johnson batted .381 in league play with a team-leading 32 hits in addition to 17 walks and four stolen bases while posting a .490 on-base percentage. She led Arkansas with 11 multi-hit games during the SEC slate. In center field, she registered 47 putouts and two assists while posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

McDowell made an immediate impact during her freshman campaign by batting .366 with 30 hits, three doubles, a triple and three homers while driving in 25 runs and walking eight times in SEC play. She posted a .537 slugging percentage and a .435 on-base percentage in 24 games of action. The Richmond, Texas native registered 10 multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games. Defensively at the hot corner, she posted a .964 fielding percentage with 25 putouts and 28 assists.
