Fernandez de Oliveira Leads Team International to Win at Arnold Palmer Cup

GENEVA, Switzerland – Arkansas All-American Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira was the only player from Team International to post a 4-0 record to lead his team to a 33-27 victory at the 26th Arnold Palmer Cup, played at Golf Club de Genève.

Tied at 18-18 over the first three rounds, Team International won 15 of the 24 final day matches to secure the win. Team International has now won three of the last four Arnold Palmer Cups.

Fernandez de Oliveira cruised to a 4&3 win – recording seven birdies in the 15 holes played – over Baylor’s Johnny Keefer on the final day. The pair tied the first three holes (starting on hole 10) with pars. Fernandez de Oliveira then birdied three of the next four holes to take a 3-Up lead. Keefer birdied their 10th hole (the par-4, 1st) only to see Fernandez de Oliveira answer with a birdie on the next hole. Fernandez de Oliveira then birdied their 13th hole to take a 4-Up lead. The duo each posted birdies on their 14th and 15th holes to allow Fernandez de Oliveira to maintain his lead and secure the win.
