Five victories for No. 1 Arkansas at LSU Invitational

BATON ROUGE – No. 1 Arkansas totaled five victories at the LSU Invitational on Saturday as they contended with the No. 2 host Tigers.

Out in California on Friday evening, Ernest Cheruiyot set a career best of 13:15.30 as the top collegian in the 5,000m at the Payton Jordan Invitational hosted by Stanford. Cheruiyot, who finished seventh overall behind a field of professionals, covered the final lap in 57.80 as he bettered his previous best of 13:27.89 from 2025.

Cheruiyot, the UA record holder at 10,000m, ranks No. 2 on the UA all-time list in the 5,000m behind the school record of 13:12.74 set by Alistair Cragg in 2004.

The Razorbacks ran 38.87 for a victory in the 4 x 100m relay over a 39.05 from LSU. Florida State and Ole Miss did not finish. The Arkansas foursome included Dapriest Hogans, Tevijon Williams, Jamarion Stubbs, and Jelani Watkins.

Later in the meet Williams and Hogans finished 1-2 in section 2 of the 100m (+1.0 wind) with times of 10.27 and 10.32.

Devyn Wright established an outdoor career best of 45.56 to lead the 400m field. Zander Cruzan (46.19) placed fourth in the same section as Wright. TJ Tomlyanovich placed third in section one at 46.08 while Rivaldo Marshall won section three in 47.07.

A clearance of 7-2.5 (2.20) secured a high jump victory for Scottie Vines over a pair of LSU jumpers – Justine Jimoh and Kameron Franklin – who both cleared 7-1.6 (2.17). Razorback Cooper Williams placed sixth with a 6-7.5 (2.02) clearance.

Henry Kiner’s season debut in the triple jump produced a winning mark of 53-6.25w (16.31) with an aiding wind of (+2.1).

Juriad Hughes and Link Lindsey were second and third in the long jump. Juriad reached a distance of 25-4w (7.72) with an +4.4 wind and his series included a 24-1.5 (7.35) with a +1.6 wind. Lindsey produced a 24-11.25w (7.60) that had a +4.9 wind and his series included a 24-1.5 (7.35) with a +1.4 wind.

In the 800m a time of 1:50.78 earned Josh Rammage a win over LSU’s Mats Swanson (1:51.32). Owan Logorodi finished second in the 1,500m with a time of 3:43.75. Eli Seavey posted a 9:32.60 as runner-up in the 3,000m steeplechase.

Abdoul Sy-Savane led a trio of Razorbacks in the 110m hurdles with a windy 13.38 (+5.5 wind) that placed him second overall. Jerome Campbell (13.57w) and Karamoko Sacko (13.58w) finished seventh and eighth, aided by a +4.7 wind in another section.

Steven McElroy won his section of the 200m in 20.53 (+2.2 wind) while teammates Hogans and Stubbs were second and third in another section (+2.7 wind) with times of 20.61w and 20.73w.

Overall, McElroy placed second with Hogans third and Stubbs fifth. A 20.31w (+2.7 wind) by Jordan Urrutia was the top time overall.

LSU won the 4 x 400m relay in 3:07.37 with Arkansas runner-up in 3:08.23 while Ole Miss finished third in 3:10.14.

Arkansas opened the meet with its managers winning the Manager 4 x 100m relay for the third consecutive year with a meet record of 45.40. Following were a trio of LSU squads – LSU Managers (46.52), LSU OPS (49.44), LSU Media (52.10).
