Golf in Striking Distance of Cutline at NCAA Regionals

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Although the Arkansas women’s golf team slid from third to a tie for seventh place following round two of the NCAA Palm Beach Gardens Regional, the Hogs are just five strokes behind the cutline to be one of five teams to advance to the NCAA Championship. At 18-over through two rounds, Arkansas carded a 9-over 297 on Tuesday, the same score the Hogs logged Monday.

Kajal Mistry paced Arkansas on Tuesday, logging a 1-over 73. She had just one bogey through the first 10 holes and registered three birdies and three bogeys in the final eight. The senior jumped four spots to sit in a tie for 12th with a 3-over 147 (74-73). Mistry leads the tournament field with the most birdies (9) and has the third best par 5s average (4.63).

Julia Gregg had another solid round with a 2-over 74 to stay steady on the leaderboard to stand in a tie for 12th as well. The senior was 1-over through the front nine and 2-over on the back, finishing the day with two birdies, four bogeys and 12 pars. Gregg has a 3-over 147 (73-74) going into the third round, while sporting the seventh best par 4s average (4.10) and ninth par 3s average (3.0).

Miriam Ayora is in a tie for 30th with a 6-over 150 (75-75) after carding another 75. She ended the day with two birdies, but five bogeys, including two on holes 16 and 17, put her above par on the day. Reagan Zibilski is also tied for 30th after also carding another 75. With a 6-over 150 (75-75), Zibilski logged three birdies, two bogeys and two double bogeys on Tuesday.

Ela Anacona logged a 77 in the second round and is in a tie for 48th with an 11-over 155 (78-77). Anacona fired away a team’s most five birdies, but three bogeys, a triple bogey and a quadruple bogey to set her back.

Arkansas has a tie for the most birdies (28) and fourth best par 5s average (4.90) among the field.
