Gomez-Alonso Continues Run at ITA Regional

STILLWATER, Okla. – Freshman Carolina Gomez-Alonso stayed alive at the ITA Central Regional Championship winning her quarterfinals match to advance to the semis on Monday.

The Spaniard Gomez-Alonso faced Oklahoma State’s Raquel Gonzalez, who is also from Spain. She dropped the first set 3-6, but came back strong in the next two sets. Flipping the script, she won the second set 6-3 and then blanked her opponent 6-0 to win the match.

Gomez-Alonso will face Sofia Rojas from Oklahoma State in the semifinals on Monday, October 17 at 9:30 a.m. CT. The singles champion earns a spot in the prestigious ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego, Calif. held Nov. 2-6 at the Barnes Tennis Center.
