Gomez Alonso's Run Ends at ITA All-American Championships
CARY, N.C. – Carolina Gomez Alonso concluded play today in the Quarterfinals of the singles main draw at the ITA All-American Championships. Her run comes to an end after defeating two ITA top-50 ranked opponents.
Gomez Alonso battled through a talented pool of competitors and matched up against No. 3 Alexa Noel of Miami (FL) in the Quarterfinals. The sophomore started out strong by winning the first set but dropped the next two sets, falling 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, to Noel. Gomez Alonso was the last Razorback standing in the ITA All-American Championships and rounded out the tournament with an impressive run.
Members of the Arkansas women’s tennis team will continue play at the SMU Fall Invite this weekend before traveling to Lawrence, Kansas, next week to compete in the ITA Central Region Championships, running from October 12-16.
