Gonzales leads young Razorback squad in Southern Stampede

JOPLIN, Missouri – A young group of Razorbacks placed fourth in team scoring at the Missouri Southern Stampede on Friday evening, scoring 121 points. Sophomore Chachi Gonzales led the Razorbacks in placing 11th with a time of 18 minutes, 31.3 seconds on the 5,000m course.

The rest of the Arkansas squad included four freshmen with Madeleine Gear finishing 16th in the race in 18:42.5. The duo of Ruby Little and Morgan Kirkland placed 22nd and 23rd with times of 18:59.5 and 19:03.6. Audrey Hill completed the Razorbacks team score as she finished 49th with a time of 20:09.4.

Pittsburg State’s Kate Strader claimed the individual title in 17:50.9. Rogers State scored 62 points for the team title over 90 points for Pittsburg State while host Missouri Southern finished third with 111 points.

The next competition for Arkansas will be at the Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday, September 28, on the Razorback’s home course at Agri Park.
