Hodo and King Named MaxPreps High School All-Americans
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas incoming freshmen C/INF Ava Hodo and INF Katie King were both named MaxPreps High School All-Americans, the publication announced.
Hodo earned first-team honors while King was a second-team selection. The duo led Orange Beach HS (Ala.) to a 46-1 overall record, which culminated in its sixth consecutive state championship in 2026. Over the three seasons that Hodo and King were teammates at Orange Beach, the Makos posted an overall record of 138-4, highlighted by a MaxPreps National Championship in 2024.
Hodo batted .483 with 56 hits, 10 doubles, a triple, 12 home runs, 68 RBI and 14 runs scored as a senior in 2026 while earning her sixth consecutive all-state selection, becoming just the second softball student-athlete in Alabama history to earn all-state honors in all six varsity seasons alongside Hilary Phillips (Ider HS, 2004-2009). Defensively, Hodo posted a 1.000 fielding percentage with 254 putouts and 20 assists while being a part of three double plays. She finished her high school career tied for the third-most home runs in Alabama state history with 78. Hodo batted above .460 and registered 51+ in each of her six varsity seasons while leading Orange Beach to six state titles. She also earned MaxPreps All-America honors in 2025.
King was named Alabama 4A State Player of the Year and ASHAA Radio Network Player of the Year in 2026 after hitting a team-leading .536 with 74 hits, 13 doubles, seven triples, 17 home runs, 59 RBI, 77 runs scored and 23 walks to go along with a .602 on-base percentage and 24 stolen bases. Defensively, she posted a .973 fielding percentage with 47 putouts and 62 assists while being a part of five double plays. Additionally, she was on the 10-player watch list for MaxPreps National Player of the Year in 2026. As a junior in 2025, King earned MaxPreps Alabama Player of the Year and MaxPreps All-America honors after batting .586 with 85 hits, 22 doubles, eight home runs, eight triples, 77 runs scored and 27 stolen bases. King was also a six-time all-state selection, earning all-state honors three times while winning a pair of state titles at Wayne Christian School in North Carolina before transferring to Orange Beach.
Arkansas is coming off a historic 47-13 campaign, which featured the Razorbacks’ first trip to the Women’s College World Series in program history. The 2026 Arkansas squad’s 47 victories were the second-most in program history, while the Razorbacks’ 26 run-rule wins were a program record. At Bogle Park, Arkansas posted a 29-3 record, which marked the second-most wins and second-best winning percentage since the stadium opened in 2009, trailing only 31 wins in 2022 and a .931 winning percentage during a 27-2 campaign in 2018.
