Hogs Blank Golden Eagles, 4-0
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team continues its perfect start to the spring season with another win at home. Arkansas (5-0) took a 4-0 win over Oral Roberts (1-4) on Wednesday before they hit the road for the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Razorbacks continue their doubles win streak, sweeping doubles to take the point and the lead. On court one, juniors Melvin Manuel and Stefanos Savva teamed up for a 6-2 win and courts two and three finished at virtually the same time to secure the doubles point both with a 6-3 result.
In singles, the Razorbacks were off to a hot start by taking the first set on all six courts. Junior Adrien Burdet moves to 2-2 this dual season with a quick 6-1, 6-1 win over ORU’s Jonathan Evans on court three. Melvin Manuel had an electrifying finish on court two to put the Hogs within one, downing his opponent 6-1, 6-3. Freshman Gerard Planelles Ripoll continues his undefeated singles streak with a 5-0 record, clinching the match win 6-1, 6-1.
The Razorbacks head back on the road, facing Northwestern in their first match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Saturday, January 28 in Ann Arbor on the beautiful campus of the University of Michigan.
