Hogs Fall to Dawgs, 3-1
Arkansas volleyball had its first SEC road match on Friday and while the Razorbacks started out with a first set win, the Bulldogs came running back in Athens and took the match 3-1 over the Hogs (25-17, 22-25, 15-25, 23-25).
Sophomore outside hitter Parker Duncan led Arkansas’ offensive effort with 17 kills and a .325 hitting percentage and put up three aces. Senior opposite Romani Thurman also reached double digits with 10 kills, her third outing with 10+ on the season.
Both Thurman and Layla Smith helped the Hogs at the net on the night as Thurman tallied four blocks ant Smith added five. In the back row, freshman libero Madi Benne had a team-high 16 digs and senior defensive specialist Gaby Cornier notched 13 to match her season high.
Junior setter Kiki Remensperger posted 35 assists and 14 digs on the match for her sixth double-double of the 2026 slate.
Arkansas is now 8-5 on the season and 0-2 so far in SEC play.
Set 1
The two teams were evenly matched to start, but Arkansas managed to grab a narrow 6-4 lead off an ace from Lakin Laurendine. Georgia stayed close behind, but the Razorbacks pulled away a bit with a 3-1 run that featured kills from Laurendine and Thurman and a block for a 12-9 lead that forced Georgia to huddle. The Dawgs continued to play scrappy, but Arkansas limited their opportunities and extended the lead to 18-13 off a kill and an ace from Aleki Alexander and a kill from Duncan, at which point Georgia called time again. The Hogs were two points away in a hurry at 23-16 thanks to back-to-back aces from Duncan, and the Bulldogs added one more, but two straight kills from Thurman secured the 25-17 set victory for the Razorbacks.
Set 2
Again, neither side gave the other much breathing room in the early parts of the second set, and Arkansas took a slim 7-6 lead with back-to-back kills from Duncan. Georgia called for an early timeout, which did give the home team some momentum back. Georgia went on a 5-4 run and went up 12-11, but the Hogs righted the ship quickly and led by two again at the technical break courtesy of another kill from Duncan. The Bulldogs refused to let the Hogs get too comfortable and used a 4-0 run for a 20-18 lead. Arkansas just couldn’t do much to get going and the Dawgs came away with a 25-22 victory to tie the match 1-1.
Set 3
It was all Georgia in the third set as the errors for the Hogs piled up and the home team found its groove. The Dawgs easily hit double digits first at 10-4 and Arkansas called time. The Razorbacks added one point out of the break, while Georgia added five for a commanding 15-5 advantage at the technical break. The Dawgs consistently maintained a 10-point lead through the rest of the set and ended it 25-15.
Set 4
The fourth set saw the teams trade blows in the beginning until a 4-0 spurt that featured two Razorback blocks and an ace made it 11-8 Hogs and prompted a Bulldog timeout. Georgia stormed back quickly and took a lead at 13-12, but the Hogs kept up the effort and put together a nice run highlighted by a Duncan kill and a Laci Bohannan ace that put the lead back on Arkansas’ side, 18-16. After a Bulldog timeout they tied the score three times, and the Razorbacks called time at 21-all. There were two more ties after that, and Georgia went back to serve at 23-23. The Dawgs outlasted the Hogs for two more points for a 25-23 Georgia set four that claimed the Bulldogs the match, 3-1.
