Hogs Head on First SEC Road Trip

 Arkansas volleyball hits the road for its first SEC trip this weekend with matches on deck in Georgia and South Carolina.

The Razorbacks face off against the Bulldogs on Friday, Oct. 2 in Athens. Arkansas has the edge in the all-time series against the Bulldogs, but the Hogs haven’t won in their gym since 2021. Georgia’s two losses came to ranked teams: No. 21 Indiana on Sept. 1 and No. 14 Purdue on Sept. 2. The Bulldogs defeated RV Georgia Tech 3-2 on Sept. 19. The Bulldogs rank in the top half of the SEC in three stats: hitting percentage (.268), opponent hitting percentage (.185) and aces/set (1.86).

After the Friday night contest, the Hogs travel to Columbia, S.C. to take on the Gamecocks Sunday afternoon. They will look to avenge last year’s loss, which was the first for Arkansas against South Carolina since 2019. The two teams are known to play each other closely: six of the last 14 matchups have required set wins in extra points, and three of those were in Columbia. South Carolina and Arkansas are two of the best blocking teams in the SEC: the Hogs check in at second with 2.70 blocks/set and the Gamecocks are third at 2.61 blocks/set.

The Razorbacks are currently 8-4, with a loss in their SEC debut against Auburn last week. Georgia sits at 9-2, 1-0 in the SEC so far and received votes in this week’s AVCA Coaches Poll. South Carolina is 7-5, with a 0-2 record in the SEC.

Friday’s match is set for 6 p.m. CT and Sunday’s first serve is at noon. Both matches will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
