Hogs Head to Tulsa for ITA Central Region Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team continues its fall season in Tulsa, Okla., for the ITA Central Region Championships from Oct. 16-20 at Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The tournament marks the second straight event the Razorbacks will play in Tulsa as the squad recently competed at the ITA All-American Championships in September.

The Hogs will be playing against student-athletes from over 20 schools across the central region. The ITA Regional Championships are the second of four qualifiers for the NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships, which will be held from Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas. The two singles finalists and doubles champion from each of the 13 regions will earn a bid to Waco.

Arkansas will have five members of the squad competing in Tulsa as Brendan Boland, Božo Barun, Benni Emesz, Connor Smillie and Jukub Vrba are set to take the courts this week. The team will look to improve on their performances from the two previous tournaments at the ITA All-American Championships and the USTA 15K Fayetteville Futures. Barun, Emesz, Smillie and Vrba all participated in the prequalifying draws in Tulsa while Smillie and Vrba reached the quarterfinals of the doubles draw in Fayetteville to open the fall season.
