Hogs Set to Face No. 33 LSU to Open SEC Tournament

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 41 Arkansas women’s tennis team (12-11, 5-8) travels to Athens, Ga., to begin postseason play at the SEC Women’s Tennis Tournament. The Razorbacks earned the No. 9 seed in the tournament and will face No. 8 seed (No. 33 ITA) LSU (14-9, 6-7) in the second round on Thursday, April 18, at 2 p.m. CT.

The Hogs and Tigers last met back on April 5th, as LSU defeated Arkansas 4-2 in Fayetteville. The Razorbacks ended the regular season winning their final two SEC contests on the road against Mississippi State and No. 38 Ole Miss.

Arkansas comes in at No. 41 in the latest ITA rankings with the doubles duo of Morgan Cross and Anet Koskel sitting at No. 57 in the ITA doubles rankings. No. 29 Carolina Gomez Alonso currently leads the team in singles victories, posting a 12-7 record this dual season.

No. 33 LSU closed out its regular season with a 4-0 loss to No. 14 Auburn on Sunday, moving to 14-9 overall and 6-7 in SEC play. The Tigers have two ranked singles players in No. 89 Florentine Dekkers and No. 112 Aran Teixidó Garcia as well as one ranked doubles pair with the tandem of Kenna Erickson and Anita Sahdiieva coming in at No. 45.

The winner of the LSU/Arkansas match will face top-seeded Georgia on Friday, April 19, at 2 p.m. CT.
