Hogs Smash Program Records in 127-48 Win Over LSU New Orleans

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas women’s basketball (1-0) opened the 2026-27 season with a historic 127-48 win over LSU New Orleans (0-1) on Monday night in Bud Walton Arena.

The Hogs’ 127 points were the most in a game in program history by 12 points, a record that stood since 1987, and the 79-point victory tied the largest margin in program history, which first occurred in 1977. Arkansas also forced a record 51 turnovers, besting the previous mark, held since 1990, by eight.

Senior forward Ayianna Johnson came off the bench to lead all scorers with 23 points and freshman guard Kyiah Prestridge recorded a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double in her collegiate debut.

How it Happened

The Razorbacks started freshmen Kyiah Prestridge and Whitley Rogers and seniors Jianna Morris, Emily Robinson and D’Asia Thomas-Harris.

Thomas-Harris scored Arkansas’ first points of the season with a step-back midrange jumper at the 8:55 mark. The Razorbacks took their first lead when Thomas-Harris forced a turnover and Rogers scored a transition layup at the 8:29 mark and led for the remaining 38:12.

LSU New Orleans hung in for the first five minutes until it was plagued by a two-minute scoring drought midway through the first quarter. Arkansas took advantage and went on an 8-0 run to lead by 14 at the end of the drought. The Hogs fired off a 7-0 run over the final two minutes, capped off by a three from veteran guard Kateri Poole, and led 34-14 at the end of the first quarter.

Arkansas made more field goals than the Privateers attempted in the first quarter and went 13-24 (54.2%) to open the game.

The Razorbacks started the second quarter with a three from senior guard Beautiful Waheed and used a 15-2 run over nearly five minutes to put LSU New Orleans down by 35. Arkansas eclipsed 50 points with 4:21 left in the half on a layup from sophomore forward Daniah Trammell.

Arkansas led 64-28 at halftime and Johnson scored 10 points in the second quarter.

The Hogs finished the third quarter just shy of the century mark and led 98-39, well on their way to the all-time scoring record. Johnson added 11 more points, nine off of three and-ones she converted. Prestridge hit the 20-point mark and was one rebound shy of her double-double.

Waheed opened the fourth with her second quarter-opening three of the night to give Arkansas a 60-point lead. Prestridge got her 10th board at the 8:05 mark and finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Freshman guard Julija Matic scored the historic 116th point with a driving layup with 2:42 left in the game.

Morris scored seven points in a span of 36 seconds with back-to-back layups and a three-pointer. She scored all nine of her points in the last three minutes of the game.

Arkansas led by 81 after Matic hit a three with 24 seconds to go, but the Privateers made a layup with seven seconds left for the game’s final points.

All 13 Razorbacks that played scored at least two points and recorded at least one rebound. Seventy-one of Arkansas’ 127 points came off the bench.

Six Hogs finished in double figures: Johnson (23 points), Prestridge (22 points, 12 rebounds), Trammell (17 points), Thomas-Harris (12 points), Poole (10 points) and Waheed (10 points).
