Freshman Kelly Keller Ends the Fall Season on a Strong Note
The Arkansas women’s tennis team wrapped up the fall season at the 2019 Seminole All-Conference Showdown. The Hogs will open the new season at home vs Memphis Jan. 18, 2020 in the Billingsley Tennis Center.
SINGLES:
Freshman Kelly Keller had a fantastic end to her first fall season. Keller won in her first match vs University of Central Florida’s Domenika Turkovic in a 6-3, 7-6(5) battle. The second day Keller defeated Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga of East Tennessee State, 6-3, 7-5. On the last day of the tournament, Keller faced freshman blue chip recruit Ali Despain from Clemson. Keller lost the first set 6-2 but bounced back to win the second set 7-5. After a hard fought battle Keller lost in the final set 6-3 snagging second in her flight. Thea Rice was another Hog who had a great weekend. Rice started off in a battle against Troy’s Chunxi Guo and came out victorious taking the match 7-5, 6-4. Rice fell in her second match, but dominated Tulane’s Laura Fabrizi 6-0, 6-3 taking third in her flight.
WHAT TO LOOK FORWARD TO:
The Hogs will open the 2019-20 season against Memphis at the Billingsley Tennis Center.
