J. Gomez, O'Donnell Earn Victories as Hogs Fall to No. 1 Georgia

ATHENS, Ga.  – The Arkansas women’s tennis team (4-11, 1-7) suffered a 5-2 loss to No. 1 Georgia (15-1, 8-0) on the road Friday afternoon at Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

The Bulldogs grabbed the early lead after taking the doubles point with victories on courts one and two. No. 10 Dasha Vidmanova and Mell Reasco struck first for the Bulldogs after a 6-0 win over Olga Bienzobas and Carolina Gomez at the No. 1 position. The duo of No. 74 Guillermina Grant and Anastasiia Lopata defeated Anet Koskel and Grace O’Donnell 6-2, to clinch the doubles point for Georgia. Jimena Gomez and Katarina Pavlechova’s match went unfinished with the Hogs leading 5-3.

The Bulldogs carried their momentum into singles play, winning on courts four, one, three and two to clinch the match. The Razorbacks responded by claiming the final two points as O’Donnell finished off Sofia Rojas 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (8) in a super tie-break at the No. 5 position. Jimena Gomez followed with a straight-set victory against Mai Nirundorn, earning her first conference victory of the season.

The Hogs are back in action on Sunday, March 23 at noon CT at No. 21 South Carolina.
