Jackson Scores 15 At LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – University of Arkansas senior Jessica Jackson dropped in 15 points and had eight rebounds but a 16-9 run in the fourth quarter lifted LSU to the 53-46 win in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Sunday.

The back-and-fourth game was tied at 37-all heading into the fourth quarter but a plus-three-minute scoring drought that included Jackson and freshman Kiara Williams fouling out, allowed the Tigers (15-6, 4-4 SEC) to sweep the series.

Arkansas (13-8, 2-6 SEC) started the game on fire shooting 72.7% going 8-of-11 from the floor. The seven-point first quarter lead evaporated behind 22 Razorback turnovers in the game.

The Tigers, who rank among the nation’s leaders in steals, grabbed 13 against Arkansas and converted the Razorback turnovers into 23 points.

Freshman Aaliyah Wilson had eight points and sophomore Bailey Zimmerman added seven for Arkansas.

Arkansas had 22 turnovers in the game including seven each in the second and fourth quarters. The Razorbacks were held scoreless for the final 3:37 and committed four of the miscues during that stretch.

The game with close with Arkansas down three points, 49-46, after Jessica Jackson hit a 3-pointer at the 3:37 mark of the fourth quarter. LSU closed the game with a mini 4-0 run holding Arkansas scoreless down the stretch.

• Freshman Keira Williams made her first collegiate start at LSU … It is the eighth different starting lineup this season.
• Arkansas scored first with a 3-pointer from Bailey Zimmerman with two seconds left on the shot clock.
• Bailey Zimmerman’s 3-pointer was the fifth time this season she has scored first for Arkansas.
• Freshman Aaliyah Wilson was the first sub from Arkansas. It is the second time she has been first off the bench.
• Senior Jessica Jackson had just six points in the first meeting between these teams. Jackson had four first quarter points and finished with 15 points and eight rebounds.
• Jessica Jackson scored in double figures for the 16th time this season. It snapped a four-game double-figure drought for the senior.
• Hot start – Arkansas shot 72.7% on 8-for -11 shooting in the first quarter. That is a season-best for the Razorbacks.
