Keller, Gomez Alonso Compete in the ITF 15K Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Arkansas women’s tennis team’s Kelly Keller and Carolina Gomez Alonso competed in the ITF 15K Hilton Head with Gomez Alonso advancing to the 2nd round of the singles main draw in addition to her and Keller teaming up and reaching the Quarterfinals of the the doubles main draw.

Keller started out the tournament in the singles qualifying draw, cruising to a 6-2, 6-3 opening round win on Monday. In the next round, Keller fell to Kira Matushkina in three hard-fought sets. Gomez Alonso qualified for the singles main draw and defeated Lauren Proctor 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in her 1st round match on Wednesday. She then dropped her next match to Sophia Biolay in straight sets.

In doubles, the duo of Keller and Gomez Alonso made the Quarterfinals with a straight-set victory over Florentine Dekkers/Lexington Reed 7-6 (1), 6-3. The tandem fell in their next match in straight sets to Isabelle Boulais/Layne Sleeth.

Six Razorbacks will be in action this weekend in the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C which runs from from September 30-October 8.
