Leinstock Receives Second SEC Pitcher of the Week Honor
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas RHP Morgan Leinstock hauled in her second SEC Pitcher of the Week honor this season, the league office announced Tuesday. Leinstock (12-2) last received the accolade on April 9.
It’s the third week in a row that a Razorback hurler has been named SEC Pitcher of the Week. LHP Robyn Herron earned the award on April 16.
Leinstock commanded in the circle in No. 14 Arkansas’ series win vs. No. 15 Alabama – the Hogs’ fourth straight ranked SEC series victory. The Scottsdale product went 2-0 in the circle in three appearances vs. the Crimson Tide. In 14.0 IP, Leinstock did not give up an earned run, tossed two complete-game shutouts, posted a 0.000 ERA, fanned 11 and limited opponents to just eight hits.
In Friday’s series opener, Leinstock pitched a four-hit, complete game shutout to power Arkansas, marking her second complete game shutout of the season. The redshirt senior surrendered just four hits across a season-high nine frames while striking out six and working around a walk. Leinstock did not give up an extra-base hit against the Crimson Tide.
In Sunday’s rubber game, Leinstock twirled her second complete game gem of the weekend after holding the Tide to three hits across five scoreless innings. Leinstock racked up five strikeouts and only walked one batter.
