Leinstock Throws 4-Hit Shutout, Camenzind Walks Off Alabama in Extras

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Lauren Camenzind’s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth pushed No. 14 Arkansas past No. 15 Alabama, 1-0 (9 inn.), in Friday’s series opener at Bogle Park.

The Razorbacks improve to 31-11 overall and 10-6 in conference play, posting their 10th ranked win of the season. The triumph is Arkansas’ first extra-inning SEC victory since defeating the No. 13 Crimson Tide, 2-1 (10 inn.), in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on March 20, 2023. It also stamps the Razorbacks’ first conference extra-inning, walk-off win since against Ole Miss on March 21, 2021, when Keely Huffine blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth to secure a 3-2 win.

The last three meetings between Arkansas and Alabama have gone into extra innings. Under head coach Courtney Deifel, the Hogs move to 4-3 at home vs. the Crimson Tide.

RHP Morgan Leinstock (11-2) pitched a four-hit, complete game shutout to power Arkansas, marking her second complete game shutout of the season. The redshirt senior surrendered just four hits across nine scoreless frames while striking out six and working around a walk. Leinstock did not give up an extra-base hit against the Crimson Tide. The Scottsdale, Ariz., product tossed two 1-2-3 innings.

Seven different Razorbacks combined for nine hits led by Nia Carter and Cylie Halvorson’s two-hit outings. Nia Carter notched her eighth multi-hit effort this season with a 2-for-4 performance. Recording her 12th multi-hit game this season, Halvorson also went 2-for-4 with a pair of infield singles. Lauren Camenzind, Reagan Johnson, Bri Ellis, Hannah Gammill and Rylin Hedgecock posted a hit apiece for the Hogs.

Magic happened in the bottom of the ninth when Raigan Kramer drew a leadoff walk. Hedgecock then stepped up to the plate and perfectly placed a sacrifice bunt back to the pitcher to advance Kramer to second base. Camenzind followed suit with a walk-off, RBI single to center to score Kramer for the win.

Arkansas looks to win its fourth straight ranked SEC series at 8 p.m. CT Saturday at Bogle Park. The game will broadcast on ESPN, including a simulcast on SEC Network, with Roy Philpott (play-by-play) and Madison Shipman (analyst) on the call. Sunday’s series finale is set for 1 p.m. on ESPNU.
