Matthews in Top-15 After Day One at the Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, NC – Arkansas Women’s Golf sits in 13th place after firing a nine-over on day one of the Tar Heel Invitational. The round represents the highest single-round score the Hogs have fired this season so far.

Redshirt sophomore Brooke Matthews had a nice bounce back in round one in North Carolina, carding a 71. That total matches her season-low, which she fired back during the first round at the Cougar Classic (9/9).

Following Matthews in the scoring on day one was junior Maria Hoyos, who played a 74 in her 2019-20 debut. That score was her best single-round effort since she fired a 73 at the Evans-Derby Experience last season (3/24/19).

The freshmen trio of Ela Anacona, Julia Gregg and Kajal Mistry all finished outside of the top-50 on day one. Anacona fired a first-round 75, while Gregg and Mistry each carded rounds of 77.
