McCarroll Tabbed SEC Freshman of the Week
After an outstanding pair of performances over the weekend, Arkansas setter Maggie McCarroll has been named SEC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
McCarroll made her first collegiate start on Oct. 11 against No. 9 Texas and helped the Hogs keep it close with the Longhorns. The Austin native notched 50 assists in the match – the most for an Arkansas freshman setter since 2016 – and had 11 digs for a double-double in the 3-1 loss.
She got the nod again on Sunday against No. 12 and defending national champion Texas A&M, and this time the Razorbacks came out on top. McCarroll posted 34 assists and 12 digs, the latter a new career high for her second-straight double-double. Arkansas went on to win 3-1 over the Aggies, the team’s first ranked win since 2023 and first SEC win of the season.
McCarroll’s running of the offense had Arkansas post its highest combined SEC weekend hitting percentage, .255, across both matches.
The award is Arkansas’ first SEC weekly honor since the 2024 season, and the first SEC Freshman of the Week for the Razorbacks since November 11, 2024.
