Men's Tennis Earns Four Wins on Opening Day of Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge
DALLAS – Four members of the Arkansas men’s tennis team opened play at the Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge, collecting four wins between singles and doubles competition.
The Razorbacks started the day with two wins in doubles play. Senior Jakob Mosvold and junior Jake Sweeney teamed up for a dominant 6-2 victory while the duo of graduate Jared Horwood and freshman Connor Smillie followed with a 6-3 win over TCU’s Quirijns/Jirousek.
Mosvold took home his second victory of the day in singles play, defeating Gundacker (Texas Tech) in straight sets. Smillie picked up his second win of the event after his opponent, Julian Alonso (TCU), retired from the match. Horwood won the first set of his match to Collier (Texas Tech), before falling in the second set. Horwood eventually dropped the match, as Collier escaped with a tight 13-11 victory in the final set.
The Hogs continue play at the Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge tomorrow morning with two rounds of singles and one round of doubles.
