Men's Tennis Set to Host Second Tournament of Fall Season

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Members of the Arkansas men’s tennis team will compete at the Billingsley Tennis Center this week in the ITF 15K Fayetteville as part of the USTA Futures from October 30-November 6. The Razorbacks are hosting their second pro tournament this fall.

The Hogs have five players set to compete in the singles qualifying draw beginning on Monday. Seniors Stefanos Savva, Foster Rogers, Alan Sau Franco, sophomore Božo Barun, and freshman Connor Smillie all look to improve on their performances in Stillwater at the ITA Central Region Championships, where all five won at least one match in singles and doubles play.

Rogers will be in the first Razorback in action tomorrow following the 10 a.m. match on court one as he takes on Christian Lerby. Smillie will take the court after Rogers’ match while Sau Franco will start the tournament on court two against Marcus McDaniel. In the final slate of matches, Barun will face Keshav Chopra following Smillie’s match on court one while Savva matches up against Adrien Burdet on court two.

Senior Melvin Manuel and sophomores Gerard Planelles Ripoll and Benedikt Emesz were selected to the singles main draw and will take the courts on Wednesday. Arkansas will also have two doubles teams competing in the main draw with Smillie and graduate Jared Horwood teaming up while Manuel and Sau Franco pair up for the second consecutive tournament.
