Men's Tennis Wins Bonita Bay Classic Championship
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team picked up a tournament victory in its final competition of the fall season after winning the Bonita Bay Classic team championship. The Hogs finished the event with 13 total victories – nine singles and four doubles – to secure the title.
After two doubles sweeps to open the tournament, both Razorback duos dropped close matches on Sunday as the tandem of Connor Smille and Jakub Vrba fell to Simon Myslivec/Marek Pazdera, 6-4, while Mark Havlicek/Lucca Pignaton defeated Brendan Boland and Benni Emesz, 6-4.
Emesz and Vrba each earned their third singles win of the event to finish 3-0 on the week with Emesz grabbing a straight-set victory against Ettore Danesi while Vrba collected a 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 comeback win over Tom Pavlekovich-Smith. Smillie took home his first singles victory after a 6-2, 6-3 win against Gughi Verdese and Boland followed with a straight-set victory to close out the Bonita Bay Classic.
