Mia Cochran, Paityn Noe register same time in Chile Pepper 5k

FAYETTEVILLE – Razorback teammates Mia Cochran and Paityn Noe ran stride for stride to the finish line of the Harter Habanero 5k at the Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday as both registered a time of 15 minutes, 56.3 seconds.

Cochran claimed the individual win with Noe runner-up after winning the 2023 race as a freshman in 16:09.4. Both produced the third fastest time over 5,000m at Agri Park.

Arkansas’ Taylor Werner won the 2019 Chile Pepper race in 15:45.4 while teammate Katie Izzo finished second in15:50.2.

Cochran finished 10th in 2023 with a time of 17:15.0 while in 2022 she placed sixth with a 16:36.7.

At the 1 mile split, Noe and Cochran both split 5:12.7 in leading the field over Eva Jess of Texas (5:13.4). At the 3.5k split, Cochran held the edge with an 11:30.5 split with Noe at 11:30.7.

With Arkansas not racing All-American Sydney Thorvaldson, Mackenzie Rogers was the third Razorback finisher as she placed 19th in 17:05.3. Olivia Pielemeier ran 17:11.1 to place 25th while Ruby Little posted a time of 17:42.4 to complete Arkansas’ team score as she placed 47th, and was 41st in adjusted scoring.

Arkansas scored 88 points in placing third in team scoring behind Texas (42) and LSU (75). CSU Pueblo (118) and Rice (127) completed the top five teams. Finishing in the top 10 were Western Colorado (197), Dallas Baptist (247), UC Santa Barbara (303), Iowa Central CC (310), and Tarleton State (354).

Tiana LoStrocco led the rest of the Razorback crew in placing 49th in 17:46.5, with Chachi Gonzales 52nd in 17:50.0. Arkansas also raced Zoe Marsh (59th | 17:55.7), Audrey Hill (62nd | 17:58.3), Morgan Kirkland (70th | 18:05.4). A total of 249 runners finished the race.
