No. 2 Arkansas Advances to Quarterfinals at SEC Championship
BELLEAIR, Fla. – For the second year in a row, the Arkansas women’s golf team advanced to the SEC Championship quarterfinals after finishing in sixth place during the stroke play portion of the event. The Hogs will face No. 6 Texas, the three seed, for a shot at tomorrow afternoon’s semifinals. Senior Kendall Todd will tee it off from No. 10 at 7:50 a.m. CT at Pelican Golf Club.
The finish tied with last year’s sixth place finish, the highest since 2019.
The Hogs, led by junior Reagan Zibilski’s 68 and five birdies, shot their lowest round of the week with a 3-under par 277. Arkansas improved its leaderboard placement after each round and started tied for twelfth. After the second round, the Razorbacks jumped to tied for ninth and ended the stroke play portion in sixth, one shot ahead of Florida.
Three Razorbacks fired off their best rounds of the week in Wednesday’s third round. Including Zibilski, sophomore Abbey Schutte shot an even 70 and Todd finished with a 1-under 69.
Freshman Clarisa Temelo, Arkansas’ highest finisher, also shot a 70 and earned a top 15 finish at T-13th.
The Razorbacks competed in match play earlier this season at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup in October. The Hogs defeated then-No. 13 Oregon, 3-2, to claim the team title.
Earlier this month, Arkansas played in Texas’ Longhorn Invitational at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin. The Horns won the event at 16-over and the Hogs finished in third at 41-over par.
The Razorbacks have not won an SEC match since 2018, the year Arkansas won its first SEC championship.
