No. 20 Hogs Drop Regular Season Finale at Kentucky, 3-0

LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 20 Arkansas soccer (7-5-4, 5-2-3 SEC) snapped its three-game winning streak, falling 3-0 to Kentucky (9-5-3, 5-2-3 SEC) on Sunday afternoon in Lexington.

The loss dropped the Hogs out of the top four in the league standings (due to a tiebreaker with Kentucky) for the first time since 2017, and they will play in the first round of the SEC Tournament as the 5-seed against 12-seed Florida at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, in Pensacola, Florida.

The Razorbacks and Gators met on Oct. 18 in Fayetteville, a last-second 2-1 win for the Hogs.

How it Happened

Kentucky scored its first goal in the 33rd minute via a corner kick taken by Teagan Myers that found the head of Reyna Powers at the top of the six-yard box.

The Wildcats doubled their lead six minutes later, this time with Elise Ernest cleaning up a shot off the post from Nadia Ramadan.

Kentucky led 2-0 at halftime and outshot the Razorbacks 11-2. Arkansas put on early pressure with four corner kicks in the first 15 minutes but failed to convert.

SEC Freshman of the Year candidate Kyla Dawn scored the dagger in the 66th minute, her 11th goal of the year, after she redirected a cross from Ernest past Arkansas goalkeeper Keegan Smith.

The Hogs nearly got on the board in the final 10 minutes with a shot on frame from freshman forward Lauren Van Rhein and a shot off the crossbar from freshman defender Londyn Green.

Kentucky goalkeeper Megan Holland made five saves in her fourth shutout of the season. The Wildcats finished ahead in shots, 16-7.
