No. 30 Barun, Horwood Fall in NCAA Doubles Quarterfinals
STILLWATER, Okla. – With a trip to the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship on the line, No. 30 Božo Barun and Jared Horwood fell short to No. 3 Robert Cash/JJ Tracy (Ohio State) in straight sets on Thursday afternoon at Greenwood Tennis Center.
The Razorback tandem claimed an early 3-2 lead in the first set, but Cash/Tracy rallied to take the next four games to clinch the opening set, 6-3. In the second set, the score was tied 1-1 before Cash/Tracy went on to win the next five games en route to a 6-1 victory.
Barun and Horwood finish the season with a 7-9 record, including six wins coming against ranked opponents. After initially being named to the alternate list, the duo earned a selection into the NCAA Doubles Championship last Friday. The tandem secured ITA Doubles All-American honors after advancing to the quarterfinals with a straight-set victory against No. 12 Hunter Heck/Karlis Ozolins (Illinois).
