No. 31 Men's Tennis Falls in Quarterfinals at SEC Tournament
BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 31 Arkansas men’s tennis team (21-11) dropped its match to No. 4 Kentucky (22-2), falling 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament on Friday evening at LSU Tennis Complex.
The Wildcats took the early advantage in doubles play with a win on court one, as No. 7 Lapadat/Mercer defeated No. 30 Božo Barun/Jared Horwood, 6-4. Kentucky claimed the doubles point after a 6-2 victory from Baadi/Loutit over Connor Smillie/Jake Sweeney.
Kentucky carried its momentum into singles play, winning the first set on five courts. At the No. 4 position, Cosnet grabbed a straight-set win against Stefanos Savva, while Benedikt Emesz dropped his match after a 1-6, 1-3 finish on court five. The Wildcats clinched the match at the No. 6 position as Stephenson bested Karlo Kajin, 6-2, 6-4.
