No. 41 Razorbacks Fall in Second Round at SEC Tournament

ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 41 Arkansas women’s tennis team (12-12) dropped its match to No. 33 LSU (15-9), falling 4-1 in the second round of the SEC Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

The Razorbacks took the early advantage after a win on court three, as Kelly Keller/Carolina Gomez Alonso defeated Dekkers/Teixido Garcia, 6-4. The Tigers responded with Rivera/Tahan obtaining a 6-3 victory against Lenka Stara/Grace O’Donnell at the No. 2 position. The doubles point came down to court one as No. 45 Erickson/Sahdiieva clinched the point for LSU after a 6-3 win over No. 57 Morgan Cross/Anet Koskel.

The Tigers carried their momentum into singles play, winning the first set on five courts. At the No. 4 position, Tahan grabbed a straight-set victory against Spink, while Cross fell to Rivera on court five to give LSU a 3-0 lead.

No. 29 Gomez Alonso secured the only point of the match for the Hogs after a 6-2, 6-2 win over No. 112 Teixido Garcia at the No. 1 position. With the victory, Gomez Alonso collected her fifth ranked win this spring and 13th victory overall. The Tigers clinched the match on court six following a 6-2, 6-4 win from Erickson against Kacie Harvey.
