No. 41 Razorbacks Shutout LSU on Senior Night, 4-0

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 41 Arkansas men’s tennis team (16-11, 4-8) concluded its 2025 home slate with a 4-0 shutout win over LSU (10-14, 0-11) Thursday evening at Billingsley Tennis Center.

In doubles play, the Tigers took the early advantage after a victory on court two, as Penzlin/Vasquez defeated Brendan Boland and Marino Jakic, 7-5. The Razorbacks responded with seniors Božo Barun and Benni Emesz grabbing a narrow 7-6 (3) win against Lofman/Stirbu at the No. 3 position. The doubles point came down to the top spot as No. 20 Connor Smillie and Jakub Vrba secured their 13th dual victory of the season to clinch the point for the Hogs with a tight 7-6 (5) win over Loncarevic/Markovic.

No. 49 Lukas Palovic picked up his fifth ranked victory of the spring after cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win against No. 103 Vasquez at the top spot. Emesz followed with a dominant victory over Ceccon on court four, 6-2, 6-2, marking his 35th career singles win at Arkansas. Barun collected his ninth dual victory and second ranked win this year to clinch the shutout for the Razorbacks after a 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 victory against No. 121 Penzlin at the No. 2 position.

Jakic and senior Arthur Bellegy both rebounded from first-set defeats to push their matches to a third set on courts five and six before the matches went unfinished. Vrba dropped a narrow tiebreak in the first set, 6-7 (3), and was trailing 5-6 in the second set before the match was abandoned at the No. 3 position.

The Hogs are back on the road next week to close out the regular season against No. 58 Vanderbilt on Thursday, April 12 before a doubleheader on Saturday, April 12 versus No. 37 Kentucky and Xavier.
