No. 41 Women's Tennis Falls to No. 39 LSU, 4-2
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 41 Arkansas women’s tennis team (10-10, 3-7) suffered a 4-2 loss to No. 39 LSU (12-8, 4-6) on Friday evening at Billingsley Tennis Center.
In doubles play, the Tigers took the early advantage with a win on court three, as Teixidó Garcia/Grant defeated Kelly Keller/Carolina Gomez Alonso, 6-4. LSU claimed the doubles point after another victory from Erickson/Sahdiieva over No. 48 Morgan Cross/Anet Koskel in the top spot. Lenka Stara/Grace O’Donnell’s match went unfinished with the score tied 4-4.
The Razorbacks bounced back by taking a brief lead in the match after wins from Koskel and Keller at the No. 6 and No. 2 positions, respectively. Koskel took down Grant in straight sets while Keller cruised past Sahdiieva, 6-3, 6-2, to give the Hogs a 2-1 lead.
The Tigers responded by tying the match with a victory on court one, as Teixidó Garcia defeated No. 26 Gomez Alonso in straight sets. Kacie Harvey dropped her match against Erickson in three sets at the No. 5 position while Rivera bested Cross after a 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 win on court four to clinch the match for LSU.
Arkansas will return to Billingsley Tennis Center on Sunday, April 7, at 11 a.m. to host No. 11 Texas A&M.
