No. 43 Arkansas Falls to No. 11 Georgia
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 43 Arkansas women’s tennis team (7-5, 0-2) fell short against the No. 11 Georgia Bulldogs (7-3, 2-0) in a 4-0 loss on Sunday afternoon at Billingsley Tennis Center.
Georgia jumped out in front after taking the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. No. 22 Mert/Vidmanova struck first with a 6-3 victory over Morgan Cross/Anet Koskel at the No. 1 position, while No. 23 Grant/Nirundorn won on court two with a 6-1 showing against Lenka Stara/Grace O’Donnell, clinching the doubles point for Georgia.
The Bulldogs maintained their lead into singles play as No. 95 Lopota claimed the first court with a victory at the No. 3 position, defeating Stara in straight sets. Kacie Harvey dropped her match 6-3, 6-2 on court five while No. 48 Vecic bested Kelly Keller with a 7-6 (1), 6-2 win at the No. 2 position to secure the decisive point for the Bulldogs.
The Razorbacks hit the road for a pair of SEC contests next week as the Hogs face No. 13 Alabama on Friday, March 8, before taking on No. 12 Auburn on Sunday, March 10.
