No. 48 Women's Tennis Sweeps Missouri, Earns First SEC Win
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 48 Arkansas women’s tennis team (8-7, 1-4) secured its first conference win of the season after sweeping Missouri (4-13, 0-5) on Sunday afternoon at Billingsley Tennis Center.
The Razorbacks struck first in doubles play as Kelly Keller/Carolina Gomez Alonso claimed court three over Artimedi/Schwarte, 6-3. Missouri responded with a 6-4 showing from Cardenas Rifka/Martinez against Lenka Stara/Grace O’Donnell at the No. 2 position. The doubles point came down to court one as the duo of No. 49 Morgan Cross/Anet Koskel snagged a 7-5 victory over No. 33 C. Canete/M. Canete to collect the point for the Hogs. The win for Cross/Koskel marks their second ranked victory this spring.
In her return to singles play, Indianna Spink cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win over Schwarte at the No. 4 position. The Razorbacks earned their second singles point after No. 48 Gomez Alonso bested M. Canete with a 6-4, 6-1 outing in the top spot. Koskel clinched the match for Arkansas after a 7-5, 6-4 victory against Artimedi at the No. 6 position to close out the first conference win for the Hogs.
The Razorbacks look forward to two more home conference matches later this week at Billingsley Tennis Center against 16th-ranked Florida on Friday, March 22, and 19th-ranked South Carolina on Sunday, March 24.
