No. 50 Razorbacks Fall to No. 12 Auburn on the Road
AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 50 Arkansas women’s tennis team (7-7, 0-4) dropped its match to No. 12 Auburn (9-5, 3-0), falling 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at Yarbrough Tennis Center.
Auburn took the lead after grabbing the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. No. 19 Arseneault/Bennett struck first with a 6-2 victory over No. 25 Morgan Cross/Indianna Spink at the No. 1 position, while Flach/Okutoyi won on court two with a 6-2 showing against Grace O’Donnell/Lenka Stara, clinching the doubles point for Auburn.
The Tigers carried their momentum into singles play, taking the first set on all six courts. At the No. 3 position, No. 64 Bennett defeated Cross, 6-0, 6-2, while Okutoyi took down Stara in straight sets on court four. Auburn secured the final point of the match as No. 14 Ansari bested No. 48 Carolina Gomez Alonso, 6-3, 6-2, at the No. 1 position. On court five, Kacie Harvey fought back to force a third set against Ovunc before her match went unfinished.
The Razorbacks will return to Billingsley Tennis Center on Sunday, March 17, to host Missouri at 11 a.m.
