No. 51 Koskel, O'Donnell Advance to Doubles Quarterfinals at ITA Sectional Championships
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Three members of the Arkansas women’s tennis team finished the opening day of the ITA Sectional Championships with the duo of No. 51 Anet Koskel and Grace O’Donnell advancing to the doubles quarterfinals.
No. 18 Carolina Gomez Alonso kicked off the day for the Razorbacks and matched up against No. 50 Sydni Ratliff (Ohio State) in the singles Round of 32. Ratliff claimed the first set 6-3 before Gomez Alonso responded to take the second-set tiebreak, 7-6 (3). In the final set, Ratliff pulled away en route to securing the match after a 6-3 victory in the third set.
The duo of No. 51 Koskel and O’Donnell clinched their spot in the doubles quarterfinals after a come-from-behind upset win over No. 22 Garcia Ruiz/Noel (Oklahoma), 2-6, 6-4, 10-6. The victory for Koskel and O’Donnell marks their first ranked win of the fall season as the tandem will take on Liubov Kostenko/Cristina Tiglea (Baylor) tomorrow following the singles matches.
