HOW IT HAPPENED
In the circle, left-handed ace Robyn Herron got the ball for Arkansas, while Oklahoma started right-handed freshman Allyssa Parker.
Reagan Johnson led off the game with a perfectly slapped infield single to second base. She was later thrown out at second attempting to reach on a wild pitch. Brinli Bain followed with a single into shallow center field, but would be stranded to end the inning.
Ella Parker reached on a one-out walk in the bottom of the first inning. Isabella Imerling gave the Sooners a 2-0 lead with two outs in the first inning, courtesy of a two-run home run to left-center field.
Kailey Wyckoff led off the top of the second inning with a single into right field. Atalyia Rijo drew a one-out walk to put a pair of runners on for Arkansas. Both moved up courtesy of a passed ball with two outs, but Parker would get an inning-ending strikeout to escape the frame unscathed.
In the bottom of the second inning, Herron struck out Ailana Agbayani for the first out of the inning. Lexi McDaniel walked with one out in the inning. Abby Dayton increased the Sooners’ lead to 4-0 with a two-run home run to right field. Saylor Timmerman entered in relief of Herron following the home run from Dayton. Kendall Wells later increased the hosts’ lead to 7-0 with a three-run home run to left-center field. Following the homer by Wells, Reis Beuerlein entered the game in place of Timmerman and induced a 1-6-3 double play to end the inning, the Razorbacks 33rd double play of the season.
In the top of the third inning, Bain drew a one-out walk to reach for the second time in the game. Beuerlein retired the Sooners in order with a 1-2-3 bottom of the third inning that featured a strikeout.
