No. 6 Arkansas Shuts Out Oklahoma in Norman

NORMAN, Okla. – The sixth-ranked Razorbacks (11-1-1, 6-1-0 SEC) picked up their first road win and eighth clean sheet of the season after shutting out Oklahoma (8-6-1, 1-5-1 SEC), 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.

The Sooners were held without a shot on frame for the entire match and were limited to just five shots.

The Hogs had plenty of opportunity in the first half but got nothing across. Graduate forward Macy Schultz found the back of the net twice but both goals were called back for offside in the 20th and 32nd minute. In the 37th minute, freshman midfielder Jailyn Brownlee added a third chance with a ball that hit off the post and out of play.

Arkansas finished the half ahead in shots, 7-2, despite a scoreless first half.

Forward Bella Field opened the second 45 minutes with a powerful strike that led to a nice save from Oklahoma goalkeeper Caroline Duffy.

The Hogs finally broke through in the 70th minute with the match’s lone goal. Defender Kelsey Oyler won the ball back near midfield and played it up to forward Ava Tankersley. Tankersley took two touches before she passed it off to junior forward Taylor Berman for a one-timer past Duffy.

Arkansas hunted for an insurance goal with three shots on target but Berman’s goal was enough to give the Razorbacks their sixth win of conference play. The Hogs finished with 12 shots on goal to Oklahoma’s zero.
