
No. 70 Razorbacks Fall to No. 5 Texas A&M on the Road
COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – The No. 70 Arkansas women’s tennis team (3-6, 0-2) fell to No. 5 Texas A&M (11-1, 2-0) on Friday evening at Mitchell Tennis Center, 7-0.
The Aggies took the lead after grabbing the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Mia Kupres and Daria Smetannikov struck first with a 6-1 victory over No. 78 Anet Koskel and Grace O’Donnell at the No. 2 position, while Nicole Khirin and Lexington Reed won on court three with a 6-3 showing against Jimena Gomez and Katarina Pavlechova, clinching the doubles point for Texas A&M.
Texas A&M carried its momentum into singles play, taking the first set on all six courts. At the No. 6 position, Lexington defeated J. Gomez, 6-0, 6-0, while No. 15 Khirin took down Olga Bienzobas in straight sets on court two. The Aggies secured the match as No. 55 Lucciana Perez bested Pavlechova 6-1, 6-0, at the No. 4 position. The rest of the matches were played out with O’Donnell falling to Smetannikov, 3-6, 2-6, No. 93 Carolina Gomez losing to No. 3 Mary Stoiana 1-6, 1-6 and No. 90 Kupres beating Koskel, 6-4, 6-2.
The Razorbacks will head to Austin, Texas to face the No. 11 Longhorns on Sunday, March 2 at 12 p.m.
