Olesen and Curry Earn All-SEC Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In the midst of a historic season, Arkansas had two players honored by the SEC coaches as Jacob Skov Olesen was voted first team All-SEC and Thomas Curry was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. Redshirt freshman Kaelen Dulany was named to the SEC Community Service Team.

Olesen is ranked 13th in the NCAA – fifth-highest ranked golfer in the SEC – and has been selected for the 2024 Arnold Palmer Cup. He is on pace to shatter the school single-season scoring average. He could be the only Razorback to finish the season with a scoring average below 70 and is currently one of just 17 players in the NCAA to have a scoring average under 70. He currently owns a 69.83 scoring average and the current Arkansas season scoring mark is 79.375 by Julian Perico in 2019-20.

Olesen has played all put eight golfers ranked inside the NCAA top 50 and owns 60-33-8 against them.

After a T-24 finish in the season opener, Olesen has finished among the top 15 in each of his last nine tournaments., including three top 5’s and five top 10’s. He leads the team with nine top 20 finishes, 14 rounds in the 60’s and 22 rounds at par or better in 29 total rounds played. In three seasons (and 80 rounds played) at TCU prior to Arkansas, Olesen complied just 10 top 20 finishes, 17 rounds in the 60’s and 38 rounds at par of better.

Curry played in nine events and has posted a 72.32 scoring average. He is on pace for the fourth-best freshman season in Razorback history behind fellow SEC All-Freshman selections Julian Perico (71.54 in 2018-19); Sebastian Cappelen (71.79 in 2010-11) and Luis Garza (72.15 in 2016-17).

Curry is coming off a season-best 65 in the final round of the SEC Championship which propelled him to an 11th-place (tied) finish. No player in the world made more improvement that Curry this season. He moved from 3,573 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings to 287, a +3,286 spot improvement. He went from being unraked in the world to 3,573 on Oct. 23, to 2,409 on Mar. 13, to 895 on April 3, to 482 on April 17 and 287 on May 1.

Olesen is the 22nd Razorback to earn All-SEC recognition (40 honors) and the 12th under head coach Brad McMakin (21 honors). Curry is the 10th Razorback to be named to the SEC All-Freshman team since its inception in 2008.

Since joining the SEC for the 1992-93 season, at least one Razorback has been honored by the league (all-conference or freshman team) in 31 of the 33 seasons (2002 and 2023 were the exceptions).
