Palovic Claims RockStar Passes Collegiate Tennis Challenge Title
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Lukas Palovic won a combined four matches – 2 on Friday and 2 on Saturday – to claim the title at the inaugural RockStar Passes Collegiate Tennis Challenge in Little Rock this weekend.
On the road to the championship, Palovic faced Tulsa’s Will Pellegrini in the Round of 16 and took the match in straight sets to open the event. In the quarterfinals, Palovic continued his dominance with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Radomir Tomic (Mississippi State).
Palovic matched up against Oklahoma State’s Derek Pham in the semifinals with Pham coming in at No. 100 in the ITA preseason singles rankings. Pham took the first set 6-3 while Palovic came back to claim the second set 6-3. In the final set, Palovic secured the match after a 7-6 (5) win in the third set.
With the victory, Palovic moved on to the championship match against Mississippi State’s Roberto Ferrer Guimaraes. Palovic took command early with a 6-1 win in the first set before closing out his championship run with a 7-5 victory in the second set to win the title in straight sets.
