Pole Vaulter John Scott Kendricks signs with Razorbacks

FAYETTEVILLE – Pole vaulter John Scott Kendricks of Oxford, Mississippi, signed a national letter of intent with the Arkansas Razorbacks. Kendricks heads into his senior high school season with a career best of 16 feet, 9.5 inches (5.12), which won the 2022 adidas Outdoor Nationals title.

Kendricks produced an undefeated 2022 season as a junior at Oxford High School. His vault of 16-9.5 ranked 11th nationally among high school vaulters and he was the fifth-best junior for the year.

John Scott is the younger brother of Sam Kendricks, an Olympic vaulter who earned a bronze medal in 2016 along with a pair of gold medals at the 2017 & 2019 World Championships. Competing at Ole Miss, Sam won a pair of NCAA titles in 2013 and 2014.

In 2022, Kendricks won the Mississippi 6A State title with a 16-6.5 vault, which followed a then career best of 16-8 set in the MHSAA 1-6A Region meet.

As a sophomore in 2021, Kendricks finished as State runner-up (15-0), and then cleared 15-8.5 to win the Mississippi Meet of Champions.
