Razorback Doubles Duos Fall in Qualifying Draw at ITA All-American Championships
CARY, N.C. – Four members of the Arkansas women’s tennis team resumed play on Monday at Cary Tennis Park for the ITA All-American Championships. Olga Bienzobas teamed up with Carolina Gomez Alonso while Anet Koskel competed with Grace O’Donnell for the start of the doubles qualifying draw.
No. 71 Bienzobas/Gomez Alonso took the court first for the Hogs, falling in their Round of 32 match to No. 27 Carnicella/Hamner (South Carolina) in straight sets. The duo is set to play No. 48 Arai/Gonzalez (Miami) in the consolation draw tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. CT.
No. 51 Koskel/O’Donnell faced No. 34 Bissett/Parra Romero (Florida State) in the Round of 32 with the Seminoles claiming the first set, 7-5. Koskel/O’Donnell responded and cruised in the second set, 6-2, to force a decisive third set. In the final set, Bissett/Parra Romero grabbed the early lead en route to a 10-5 win to secure the match. The Razorback tandem will be in action tomorrow for their consolation match against No. 49 Dorner/Uchijima (Penn State) at 1:30 p.m. CT.
