Razorback Duo Advances to Round of 16 at NCAA Doubles Championships

STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 30 Božo Barun and Jared Horwood opened the 2024 NCAA Doubles Championships with a 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-2) win over No. 64 Stian Klaassen/Sacchitt Sharrma (San Diego) to advance to the Round of 16.

The duo becomes the first Razorback team to advance past the Round of 32 since 2017 (Redlicki/Salazar) and looks to become the first Arkansas tandem since 1994 (Hilpert/McGinn) to advance to the quarterfinals.

After a back-and-forth first set, Barun and Horwood prevailed to take the opening set, 6-4, while Klaassen and Sharrma overcame a 3-5 deficit to claim the second set, 7-5. The match came down to a 10-point tiebreaker in lieu of a third set, where the Razorback duo earned a quick 4-1 advantage en route to a dominating 10-2 victory to advance to the Round of 16.

Barun and Horwood will take on No. 12 Hunter Heck/Karlis Ozolins (Illinois) tomorrow at 4 p.m. for a spot in the quarterfinals at the 2024 NCAA Doubles Championships.
