Razorback Isca Chelangat earns SEC Runner of the Week accolade

FAYETTEVILLE – The women’s SEC Runner of the Week honor went to Razorback sophomore Isca Chelangat, who broke the meet record in winning the Gans Creek Classic and produced the second fastest time this season over a 6,000m course in her Arkansas debut.

Posting a time of 18:58.4, Chelangat bettered the meet record of 19:07.0 set in 2025 by Rosemary Longisa of Washington State. Finishing five seconds behind Chelangat as runner-up in the race was Elizabeth Khatevi of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (19:03.6).

Running on the Gans Creek course last November during the NCAA Championships while at Oklahoma State, Chelangat produced a time of 18:56.1 in placing seventh. Chelangat now has the eighth and 12th best performances on the Gans Creek course.

The Razorbacks compete on their home course at Agri Park on Saturday, October 3, in the 38th Chile Pepper Festival. The women’s 5,000m race will start at 11 a.m.
