Razorback MGolf is T3 After Opening Round at Blessings Collegiate
FAYETTEVILLE – The 23rd-ranked Arkansas men’s golf team has three players among the top 20 and stands in a tie for third with an 11-over-par score of 299 after day one of the fifth annual Blessings Collegiate Invitational, presented by Tyson Foods.
#15 LSU leads the 10-team men’s field with a 3-under 285 and Mississippi State was the only other team to finish round one under par with a 1-under 287. The Razorbacks are tied with BYU and only five shots separate third from 10th place.
The highlight of the day was a hole-in-one by Manuel Lozada on the 135-yard, par-3, 8th hole. The Razorback senior hit a wedge about 15 feet beyond the flag and it spun back into the cup for the ace. It was his fifth career hole-in-one, his third in a tournament competition and second at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. It was the fourth hole-in-one at the BCI as the other three were on the par-3, 13th hole by Lozada in 2023, Hugo Townsend (Ole Miss-M) in 2022 and Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira (Arkansas-M) in 2021.
John Daly II paced Arkansas with a 1-over-par 73. He closed his front nine with birdies on holes 14, 15, 17 and 18 and is tied for 12th.
Lozada and Lefevre are tied for 18th, each shooting a 2-over 74. Lozada added two birdies to his hole-in-one with a bogey and two doubles. Lefevre had three bogeys and a birdie on the par-5, 5th for his 74.
Gerardo Gomez is tied for 42nd (78) and Thomas Curry is in 50th (80).
Among the individuals, freshman Erich Fortlage carded a 3-over 75 and is tied for 25th. Pablo Garcia Terol is T34 (77), Jackson McLaughlin is T42 (78) and Mark Stockdale is T53 (82).
Round two of three is set for Tuesday. The Razorback individuals will start at 9:15 am off hole one and the team will have a 9:45 am start off hole 1.
